Roger and Family,
You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Mary was a very special person who continued her mother's legacy of really working at keeping the Schmidt family together and in contact. Dick and I have many great memories of time spent with her and her parents in Eau Claire and later with the regular family get togethers/lunches. The latter were typically arranged by Mary. She has been a blessing.

Thinking of you at this difficult time. I remember you & Mary with my parents (Ray & Joyce) on Island Lake, your cottage, & all the laughter. I always remember Mary as having such a great smile on her face. I'm living in EC now just around the corner from my childhood house on Summit Ave. Thinking of you all & sending prayers. Dear Roger and family
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of Mary. Remembering the long connection we have with your family over the years at Our Redeemer. I still have a verse written in your Mom’s hand sent to me many years ago. Almost every day I go past your
family’s home on Highland Blvd on my way to visit Leonard in the nursing home.
God’s peace and comfort in your loss.

We were so saddened to hear of the loss of Mary. Our prayers go out to you, Roger, and all the family. Since 4th grade at St. Patrick's School in Eau Claire, WI. Mary and I have been sharing adventures. I came to the school as a newbie and Mary and I seemed to connect immediately. Some of my happiest growing up memories involve Mary and her parents Margaret and Harry.
When my family moved to Superior, WI, we couldn't spend as much time together but on every visit we'd reconnect like we hadn't been apart. There were the visits during the summer and even a trip up the North Shore when Mary first got her license and would trade off driving with her dad, Harry.. Later our husbands, Roger & Del, were introduced into the picture and we were each matron of honor in the other's wedding. Our family paths put us in different parts of the country during most of our kids growing up years but we were blessed in recent years for the four of us to spend some time together almost every summer...Mary so loved her family and was so proud of her grandchildren. She spoke of all of you often. Mary was my very best friend and I will miss her dearly, but
I know she will be watching all of us from above.

Mary (Mary Ann to me) was such a caring compassionate woman. She was my Moms loving cousin and friend. When Mary was in Eau Claire she often contacted Etta for coffee, lunch, a visit or would take her along to a grandchilds event. Etta loved her visits with her cousin. Mary Ann has unfortunately experienced several losses in this past year, with the passing of her cousins Etta, Rosemary and Yasha. Our family wishes you peace and warm memories. I pray they are all together watching over us and free of their health burdens.

I was so lucky to have Mary as a host mother from 1989-1991. I was a young international student who received from Mary the greatest support ever. Since I left the US, she had kept in contact with me all of these years. One of my dreams was to go back to Wisconsin one day and pay her a visit to remember the great moments we had. She was an excellent human being. I’m sad to find out that she is no longer among us. You’ll be in my heart and memory forever. My deepest condolences to my host father Roger, Christine and Mark.

Mary loved children, especially her grandchildren. When I had her grandson in my class she came in every Friday morning to read to my class. She would also volunteer to help with special projects like leaf printing, making ornaments, sewing Christmas stockings and many other events. Her grandson moved on to other grades and another city but Mary continued for years to read to my class on a regular basis as well as help with projects. She would even come on “Grandparents Day” and be a special grandparent for a child that didn’t have one! The children called her “Grandma Mary” and she was loved by each and every one of them! Grandma Mary touched many little hearts in Kindergarten and we will forever be grateful to have known her.

Sincere sympathy to you all at this very sad time. I sat with Mary on a bench and spoke to her at the botanical gardens in Atlanta GA at the NPKUA in 2018. I will always remember how kind and welcoming she was to a newcomer. She was so proud of all her family. A beautiful gentle lady. I've known very few people to make such an impression in such a short time. I'm so sorry for your loss.
